You will find us in the ancient Ukrainian town – Lutsk. The history of the town dates more than 9 centuries back.
The tribes of linear- band ceramics left their traces on the town’s territory about 4 thousand years ago. In the 6-7 centuries A.D. East-Slavic settlements were founded on the island which was surrounded by the rivers Styr and Hlyshets and impassable boggy valleys. At that time the fortifications were built on the highest hill. Later on they grew into a castle, called the Upper Castle.
In 1240 Tatar-Mongols couldn’t take the town. In 1257 it didn’t surrender to Kuremsa horde, though in 1259 the inhabitants had to destroy the fortification walls themselves. Local princes still continued to be the rulers of Lutsk for almost another century but the nobility gained strength. In 1340 noblemen poisoned Prince Yuriy-Boleslav II and invited to the throne Lithuanian Prince Lubart who was married to the Volyn princess. Due to the favourable location in the Lithuanian state Lutsk actually became its second capital. The inhabitants of Lutsk could form their own regiment and put it forth in the Grunwald battle. After the victory over the Teutonic Order Lutsk became an important political center. In 1429 the memorable meeting of European monarchs took place here. At this meeting the issue of Christian churches unification was put up.
“Maydan” is situated in Lutsk, in the center of the town, Boyko Street, 2. It is 150 metes down from the central square with the monument to Lesya Ukrainka along Vynnychenko Street up to the road sigh.

“Maydan” consists of two autonomous parts – the First and the New.

The first part was created and began its functioning 23 January 1998 on the spot where at the beginning of the 20th century a Czech V. Zeman owned a tavern. Mr. Zeman produced and sold his own beer. It was the best tavern in the town in 1900’s.

The first part comprises summer room #1 and room #1 itself. |

Room #1 welcomes fans of beer and hot snacks. The meal is accompanied by melodic play of the retro-folk quartet. br>
“Stara Shuhlyada” (“The Old Drawer”)is a band of highly professional musicians. They will make true any refined wish of our visitors and play music to their taste.
The first room is a place of a quiet rest for lovers of beer. They enjoy charming sounds of violin, accordion, contrabass and Ukrainian folk instrument “sopilka”. In the skillful hands of our musicians these instruments cast spells on the listeners.
It is just impossible to describe the variety of melodies played by “Stara Shuhlyada”. Besides, a company of people who appreciate songs can sing their favourite pieces to the accompaniment of our musicians.
Room #2 or the New roomwas created in 2001 and it opened its doors to public in December 2002. The New room consists of a summer room, the room itself and a cabin.

Here we can offer banquet halls for 6-8 and 10-12 persons to visitors. |

We can also offer an isolated separate cabin with a fireplace and real working stove used in villages. The cabin has enough space for 14-16 people. |

Starting from 7 p.m. every day you may confidently leave your transport under the reliable surveillance of our personnel. Tables can be reserved in advance by phone (you have an opportunity to choose the place you like the best; look at the “Map” for location).
Our motto – we always… try to live without hamburgers, pizza… Coke and we try to surround ourselves by delicious things in music as well as in life.
Prices charged for all services at the place are ridiculously low because of objective reasons (location, mentality…).
For example – entrance ticket for a live, full-time concert and dances in the rock ’n’ roll style costs at our place only $0.93. Similar low prices are for everything…
Well, not to make you think hard we will not indicate prices.
Actually, it is better to see the thing with your own eyes than read about it hundred times.
